Director and Trustees to visit Projects in Southern Africa during September and october 2008

SACDTrust has had, at the centre of its operational policy, that the Director of Projects should as far as  is feasible visit each project and assess that the grants made and support given have been well managed and have benefitted the people for whom they were intended. We can proudly report that this monitoring has produced a successful partnership between the Trust and the recipients of funds.

Similarly our supporters in the UK, whether corporate, parishes or individuals, feel assured that their contributions are being spent wisely on the causes they are supporting, and that  project leaders are accountable. The schools we support all report yearly on the progress of those on SACDT bursaries. Reports on completed building programmes and other projects  are now often accompanied by photographic evidence which provides the material for our bulletins and fundraising.

Since its foundation the Trust has valued  the partnership between those in the UK and in southern Africa by nurturing the relationship through visits of the Director of Projects to the region. This has helped in maintaining a true perspective of the conditions in which so many live.

When SACDTrustees  travel to the region on private visits at their own expense , they try and see as many of our sponsored projects as possible. All this is valuable in strengthening that personal relationship with the people in the region.

This year we are very fortunate to have the Revd Canon John Howden and Mrs Susan Howden (daughter of the founder Dr Spencer Payne) accompanying the Director. Canon and Mrs Howden will be filming the projects and interviewing recipients of funds. DVDs will be produced on all aspects of the Trust’s work and will be made available to parishes and individuals for their own fundraising and outreach programmes. Much of the material will also be available on the Trust’s new website at a future date.

Below is a list places that will be visited and the projects. Please pray for all concerned that the visit may be fruitful and that the bonds of friendship and partnership will be renewed and strengthened.

The Director’s and Trustees’ programme as they travel in the region. We hope that you will follow their progress and that each day you will pray for the work that is taking place and for the future needs of the people in these areas.  Thank you.
